“Ram
Vanvas”
In the Indian Epic Ramayana, Lord Ram was
sent into vanvas (exile into the forest) for 14 years. His wife Sita and
brother Laxman accompanied him into the forests.
A closer look at Lord Rama’s character
teaches us how to remain calm and rejoice in any state and stage in one’s life.
In my painting, a butterfly is sitting on Ram’s toe. Both Ram and Sita are
seeing the colorful butterfly and are enjoying this simple but precious moment
in their lives. They value and enjoy the simple joys of life and can remain happy
in any situation.
Symbolically the butterfly represents
simple joys or happiness in life which one can enjoy in adverse situations as
well.
